About the event
Welcome to the Miles for Smiles Challenge! Paul Marks, a wonderful volunteer in the UK, will be running each week in Central London to prepare for the Wimbledon Half Marathon on Oct. 29th.Â
We want to challenge you to join him - from wherever you are in the world!
Not a seasoned runner? No worries! Go for a walk in the park, a bike ride around your neighborhood, or hit the gym! Physical activity has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health. It can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, making it an essential tool in the journey of grief.
If you're in London and would like to join Paul on his weekly runs, click here to stay updated on where to meet up with him.
This week, we're running for The Flanagan and Jacobs families. We've been fortunate enough to get to speak with so many people who have been vulnerable and open about their grief.
John Flanagan was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer in the Fall of 2008 and passed away just two months later, leaving behind his wife Amanda and their three children. The John Patrick Flanagan Foundation was established in loving memory of John, with a mission to help vulnerable children and families by supporting charities that provide the direction, education and healthy environment that vulnerable children and families need to have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Chad Jacobs passed away in June 2010 after battling cancer, leaving behind his wife Karen and their two children. His family established The Chad A. Jacobs Memorial Foundation to fund academic and athletic scholarships to children in their local Connecticut community.
John and Chad's families working to help other families after their own losses are forever inspiring. Please consider supporting both of these incredible foundations.
