Throughout the Miles for Smiles Challenge, we have been overwhelmed with gratitude and an incredible sense of community. This is the final week of the challenge, dedicated to the family of our co-founder Nick Hungerford.
We are always honored when people want to help us raise awareness. But Paul Marks, a volunteer from the UK, floored us with his dedication in the last few months.
Paul says that he has learned firsthand how hard it is for a child so young to lose a parent because his mom lost her father when she was only 12 years old.
After seeing Nick speak at London Tech Week back in June, Paul reached out to us looking to see how he could get involved.
As we got to know each other, we began planting the seeds for the Miles for Smiles Challenge.
We decided this would be a challenge to get others in our community moving in any way possible for 45 days.
Why 45 days? Nick co-founded the investment platform Nutmeg in 2011. The idea was famously rejected 45 times in a row by funders, but the business was ultimately bought by JP Morgan in 2021 in a transaction that ensured the long-term future of the business and Nick's original vision.
45 has become a symbol of resilience, perseverance, and never giving up to not only Paul, but also our team and, hopefully, our community.
Week after week, he laced up his running shoes, hit the pavement, and completed an astonishing seven marathons to support our cause. His commitment and passion have not only inspired us but also countless others in our community. Paul, you are a true inspiration, and we can't thank you enough for your unwavering dedication.
It's not too late to support Paul's fundraiser - you can do so here.
Thank you to... You!
Your participation, your miles, and your stories have fueled this challenge with hope and purpose.
Thank you for sharing your inspiration for being part of this challenge. Our team has found this more meaningful than you could ever imagine.
Looking Forward
While the Miles for Smiles Challenge may be nearing an end, the need for support remains. We encourage you to stay connected with us and find more ways to make a difference. Together, we can keep turning grief into smiles, one step at a time.
As we approach the holiday season and Giving Tuesday, keep an eye on our website and social media for more information about how you can become a champion for grieving children.
Once again, thank you to Paul Marks, to all our supporters, and to everyone who joined us on this remarkable journey. You've shown that together, we can achieve amazing things, and we're excited to see what we can accomplish in the future.
